In 1918,my great grandmother was a victim of human trafficking. She was lured onto a Dutch merchant vessel with little recollection of what happened and ultimately ended up in Suriname.
Through it all, she eventually earned her freedom. With that, a portion of our heritage was preserved and handed down - from one generation to the next, Java to Atlanta, indentured servant to immigrant to US citizen.
One of our favorites, passed down through the ages, is the recipe for these sweet and savory hot sauces, or sambal as it's called.
In the past, the only way we could get our hands on the sauces would be if Grandma brought some in her carry-on from Suriname. We thought we'd make it a little easier for you, so we made a business out of the family recipe.

BLACK from KOMODO HOT SAUCE.. This is a rich savory sweet sauce that will enhance any food. Its rich flavor comes from sweet soy sauce, soy extract, brown sugar, habanero peppers, chili peppers, lots of garlic and a pinch of salt. The flavor of this sauce is fantastic, slightly sweet with a nice punch of soy sauce and garlic. The addition of the habanero and chili peppers gives this sauce a perfect amount of heat without being overly hot to over shadow its wonderful flavor. This sauce would pair with just about any type of foods, from Asian to Mexican. I loved it on rice, chicken, pizza, tacos, fish and used as a marinade for red meat, pork or fish. I can't wait to use this sauce on all types of dishes. I love the flavor this sauce brings to my meal.

GOLD from KOMODO HOT SAUCE.. This is a wonderful table sauce, it would take the place of a franks or Tabasco on your table because of its wide use of pairing with any food (not taste). Its vinegary and salty flavor is mixed together with onion and a lot of garlic. If you love garlic then this would be the sauce for you. This sauce will add a tone of flavor to all your dishes from breakfast to dinner or mix into ranch dressing or sour cream to make a dip.

RED from KOMODO HOT SAUCE.. This is an amazing sweet chili sauce! Such a wonderful flavor in every drop. Its sweet chili flavor is revved up by the addition of Galangal Root to give this sauce a slight citrusy ginger flavor. You will also get a nice even punch of garlic to round out its wonderful flavor. There is a slight molasses undertone from the addition of brown sugar and the flavor and heat of the habanero pepper pairs perfectly with all the other ingredients. The first thing I thought about was making wings with this sauce! Plus add to pork or chicken, use on ice cream, over Asian food and so much more. This sauce will be a winner on any ones table.
